Tanner's 3 Tips For Throwing Larger
1. Preparation
The first tip Tanner gave me was preparation. that means thoroughly wedging the clay so there is no air bubbles to prevent structural weakness when pulling. Tanner also recommends centering is crucial before even pulling the wall if you are even slightly off when centering the piece will fail
2. Execution/ Pushing Limits
The simplest thing you can do to start throwing larger pots is to push your clay to its limits. Tanner says that pushing your clay to its limits allows you to understand the behavior and limitations of the clay better. If you can maximize the clays potential and yourself you can minimize risks and failure
3. Practice and Reflection
"Mastery of throwing larger pots takes time and dedication," says Tanner and I totally agree its not going to happen right away but the more you practice the better your skills will get. With that practice comes reflection on past attempts the more you combine practice and reflection the faster you grow and be able make some higher quality pottery
