My work is an exploration of perception. I try to depict interior psychic landscapes, the way the work of writer Marguerite Yourcenar was once described: “like breaking open a clod of earth and finding strange, dark things: glints and bones and bugs, slimes and roots, sulfur.” The pieces are made in low-fire clay with monochromatic glazes that obscure and unify the forms, creating a kind of mutability that disrupts and abstracts the naturalistic references.

I live and work in the Bushwick section of Brooklyn. I’ve had exhibitions at the Jane Hartsook Gallery, One Main Street Gallery and Alona Kagan Gallery among others. Residencies include Greenwich House Pottery and Abrons Art Center at the Henry Street Settlement. I received an MFA from the School of Visual Arts and a BA from Sarah Lawrence.

In a parallel life, I’ve edited over fifty publications including Louise Bourgeois: Spiral, Jenny Holzer: Redaction Paintings, Danto on Scully and Adam Fuss: Water.
